Nissan Nismo 400R
The 400R is a limited-edition model. Only 99 examples were release in February 1996. It is based on R33 Skyline GT-R Vspec, and it embodies the technology and expertise gained by building the Nismo racing cars that were contenders at Le Mans and in other GT events.
This car's greatest claim to fame is hinted at in its name: the 400-bhp powerplant. This engine, called the RB-XGT2, features special pistons in a reinforced block, along with a custom crankshaft and connecting rods. Engine capacity is boosted to 2.8 liters, and power is a whopping 400 bhp at 6800 rpm with maximum torque of 356 lb-ft at 4400 rpm.
A heavy-duty 5-speed gearbox is used, with a newly developed twin-plate clutch and a carbon propeller shaft made especially for 400R. the suspensions is of the same basic design as the GT-R's but is equipped with stiffer springs, Billstein shocks, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
There are plenty of unique body and interior parts as well. It could be said that the Nismo 400R takes Nissan's most powerful Japanese-market car, the GT-R, to the next level of performance. But, at around the equivalent of $100,000 US, the price is at the next level, too.
